Strain Field Morphing (2D)

Han-Bing Yan, Shi-Min Hu, Ralph Martin

In morphing, we would like one shape is smoothly deformed to another shape. But how can we ensure the deformation process is smooth? And how to define deformation? In fact, deformation problem has long been studied in mechics and a strong tool "Strain" is used to define shape deformation. Integrated with the finite element method, in this paper, we proposed a new 2D morphing method based on strain field interpolation. What's more, we present a easy way to create 2D consistent triangle mesh.
